The Irish Banshee (bean sí, literally
means
"woman of the otherworld") is generally
thought to call out in lamentation, in their
ghostly voice, at the imminent
death of an Irish person.
In Stradbally 70 years ago it was
reported to have been heard, and made
a noise like " a hare being killed."
